Dogs can eat cat food, but cats cannot eat dog food. That's because an ingredient called taurine is already included in a dog and in a human's system but not in a cat's. Cats can only get taurine from the food they eat in the wild, and is included in cat food as well. It is the reason why cats are obligated carnivores.

In 1714, a Danish-Norwegian naval lieutenant (and later admiral) named Peter Tordenskjold was engaged in a 14-hour battle with an English vessel disguised as a Swedish ship. Eventually, he ran out of ammo and kindly asked if he could borrow some more. The English captain said no, but they did have a drink together and then went their separate ways. However, he was court-martialed but was later acquitted.

Both of Lou Scheimer's (Filmation) kids are LGBT.
Only Erika (the daughter) is open about it, herself being into women.
(If you're wondering, Lane is bi, but it's not as well known of a fact as his sister Erika being into women due to Lane dropping out of the public eye (for the most part) in the early 80s.)

I believe we all have heard that Albert Einstein was bad at school at XX age but that's so not the case. In fact, Einstein was brilliant as a kid, he had outstanding grades, he just have bad grades in subjects he couldn't care less.

Pinball/game designer Steve Ritchie is credited with coming up with the words "Mortal Kombat". He suggested the name after various other names were being proposed (such as Kumite, Fatality, and Combat). In addition, Ritchie also provided the voice of Shao Kahn in Mortal Kombat 2 and 3.

Contrary to what history books and pop culture may tell you, nobody was actually burned at the stake during the 1692 Salem witch trials. Those accused of witchcraft were either jailed or hanged, and one particular person was executed by having large stones being forced upon him, basically crushing him. Ouch.

Paul Revere's Midnight Ride happened a little differently than what your history teachers probably told you. First of all it is highly unlikely he would have shouted that the British are coming, because many people in the American colonies still considered themselves British (He would have said "The Regulars are coming" instead). He also did not ride alone and in fact he was actually detained by a British patrol for a short time.

Christopher Columbus did not land anywhere in America during his voyages, as he first landed in the Caribbean (around the area of present-day Bahamas) in 1492, but in interestingly enough he did arrive and sight the coastal areas of what is now Venezuela during his 3rd voyage in 1498. Also Columbus did not believe the Earth was flat and in fact he actually realized that finding a route to his actual destination of India was harder than he thought, and had they had not accidently reached the West Indies/Caribbean Sea, Columbus and his crew would have died of starvation or disease.

It's a animal fact: The large front teeth of the beaver never stop growing. This is why beavers must chewing tons of wood in the forest to keep them in the right size.

A little known fact is that back in 1959, Nintendo struck a deal with Disney to produce playing cards featuring its characters. Sales of these cards were profitable, but fast forward several years later and playing cards sales declined due to new forms of entertainment. (Pachinko machines, karaoke, etc.) Additionally during this time they branched out into other businesses, like taxi services, selling instant rice, and "love hotels."

No I'm not making this up. This actually happened.

Earth has an 8th continent now mostly under water, East of Australia. 2000 years ago, it was above land and had it's own exclusive animals. It's name is Zealandia. It was finally confirmed by the scientific community in 2017.

The popular Mexican stew known as pozole was, during the time of the Aztecs, used human meat taken from sacrifice victims. This particular version of the ancient dish was prepared on special occasions and had importance spiritual significance. When the Spanish arrived and conquered Mexico, they were rather concerned about this ritual, and decided to use pork instead, as it apparently tasted similar to human meat.

Speaking of Mexico, there's a state here called Yucatán. Supposedly, when spanish came to Mexico (specifically to Yucatán peninsula), they asked the natives "how is this place called?" to which the natives respond with something like "Ci u t'ann" meaning something similiar to "I don't understand you". The spaniards said "oh, so it is called yucatán, nice!". I guess is a funny story.

The shortest ruling head of state in history was Mexican President Pedro Lascurain. He was only in office for less than an hour on Feb. 19, 1913.

Numerous copies of Mario Party 8 were recalled in the UK because of the use of the word "spastic" in the game. For those unaware, "spastic" is a derogatory term used towards mentally disabled people and it is a VERY offensive insult in the UK.

For years it was commonly believed and accepted that the Koopalings are Bowser's children, but this no longer the case. Various Mario materials published in Japan, in addition to a statement by Shigeru Miyamoto, state that they are in fact, Bowser's minions, and that Bowser Jr. is his only biological child. In addition a rumor once stated that Bowser has/or had a wife named "Clawdia Koopa" . This info supposedly came from an issue of Nintendo Power UK, a magazine that doesn't exist (Nintendo magazines were published in the UK, but under that name). It turns out that "Clawdia Koopa" is a character made by the owner of a Lemmy Koopa fansite made just to make a role-playing fanfiction about her.
