Have any of you ever played with game engines?

I've played around with rpg maker and engine 001. Though I should use engine 001 more often. XD I mess around with these things because when I get tired of games or whatever I just make my own or when feeling inspired. I've got a few made but never released them because I don't think their anything special so not worth showing off. But I am proud of them and I've let my family play them on occasion as well as friends.

I have made various rpgs and even a 2d game with some platforming elements.. Though I lost the script and stuff to the 2d game. >.<I've been working to get it started over however.

I've only tried RPGmaker 2000, gamemaker [YoYo games], Cube 2: Sauerbraten and of course M.U.G.E.N.
I've never done anything productive with any of them, was just curious is all.
Once downloaded the Doom Engine, but was never able to come up with anything substantial.
Same thing with Unity, I guess I just don't have the desire to do anything productive with my free time.

Finally! A good topic! Anyways, the answer is no, but I'm going into Indie game development for a part-time to full-time career, so I'm going to eventually. Should I do Unity? Unreal Engine? What should I start with?

I messed around with 001 Game Creator, Game Maker Studio and RPG Maker VX Ace and MV. Oh, so many incomplete projects...

I've messed around with a lot of engines in the past with Unity Engine being the recent. I'd say that RPGMaker MV has probably been the worst I've dealt with solely due to the move to javascript, and having to relearn how things worked from VX Ace to MV that I abandoned a lot of it. At least MV has a smart tiling system that lets you make prettier maps, and by this point, a lot of user scripts to learn off of compared to the launch of MV.

First it was RPG Maker 2003, and a bit later, RMXP. I remember that I did a few hours game back then that I never released, it was mostly for fun.

And now I am currently using Unity. I haven't done anything interesting for now, but I'm still working on it.

I tried doing something in OpenBOR.

I gave up halfway, and most of what was in the experiment was admittedly plagiarized. I just threw Isabeau, KOF2002 Athena, and Sol Badguy in a barely-working stage from Rocket Viper.

I've been using Godot for the last year and a half and it's awesome! for 2d and even for 3d its on pair or even better than industry standards like Unity! and since getting C# support its getting better and better

I've been screwing around with OHRRPGCE at the moment, hopefully i can get something done. All i did at the moment was set the default battle music and built 2 party members.

yes, Game Maker, a version of Fighter Maker, and various versions of RPG Maker

Back in 2007, I used a program called Game Editor. It was pretty limited in what it could do, but it was fun for me, since I wanted to design my own game. I didn't do nearly as much until I discovered RPG Maker VX. I fell in love with the tool, and so I continued with Ace and now MV as my favourite engine to play with.

I like crafting customer classes, and using the custom events in conjunction. You can do some pretty crazy things with it!

I tried RPG Maker 2000 and since then all following ones.
But spent most time with 2000. I guess it was around when I was 15-16.
Had time & energy to try. Still remember how I created a custom menu for a MegaMan-style thing.
Never did a project thou... lack the endurance or something.

Just a few weeks ago I started with Godot3 & now re-discovered MUGEN.
I don't think or believe I'll ever complete a game.
Maybe I like the travel more then the goal?
But also love to complain about never reaching it
