Idea Tutorial : How to export a sprite from a MUGEN creation

Here is a step by step tutorial :

    A. download and extract fighter factory 3 somewhere on your hard drive

    B. go to a mugen character directory and look for the .def file

    C. double click that file and pick "select a program in your list" in the Windows prompt

    D. at the bottom of the next windows click "browse" and go to your fighter factory 3 directory (where you extracted it earlier) and pick ff3.exe, check "always use that program" and continue, from now on windows should always open .def with fighter factory 3

    E. In fighter factory 3 follow the three steps
    1. click the Animations icon on the top menu
    2. browse the animations if needed
    3. click the Save as animated GIF icon

    F. continue and type a filename for the image file, for example char-name.gif

Is my tutorial really that bad? Because it is hardly used by any uploader.

Not bad at all dizzy. I just prefer to rip animated gifs when I do it. Just personal preference.

If everybody used it, not only the site would look much cleaner, but it would be also much faster

Look at this section for example : http://mugenarchive.com/forums/downl...p?do=cat&id=95

It looks very clean and the thumbnails are right on the spot.

I wish more sections would look like that.

Have to say, there is quite the noticeable difference in cleanliness when this technique is used, definitely would be cool to see more people use it.

you mean like you can put characters in mugen, on whether it is extracting files from the original or iso game?, if so in the origins of mugen I guess some people did, I come to mugen in 2007, and the engine 2D fighting has been going on since 1999 ... I could not tell you for sure.

He's asking how to rip sprites from games, which isn't what this topic is about.

Fighter Factory is exclusively meant for MUGEN.
For other games you'll need to look if any specific extractor exists.
It would be nice if our development forum had a thread dedicated to sprite resources with links to the main resources sites.

Thank you for the tutorial, it made a couple of things more understandable for me, i'm learning slowly with the help I can find around here but eventually it will become common knowledge in time, I hope.
