Yeah we have something like that in Sicily, old saying " Babbiannu babbiannu si rici a virità" that literally means " A joke reveals the truth. " There supposed to be something funny in sarcasm to be recognized as it is and not as a clear truth. Otherwise, one can tell the truth in a hilarious way too. So there is a really broad meaning to the old saying, not just one interpretation (or a too literal one).

For example: " This last post is SO on-topic!!!11 " you recognize it as a sarcastic joke.
