oh forgot to mention the emulators i use, here they are:

    Sega Master System - MEKA

    NES - FCE Ultra

    Sega Genesis/Megadrive - Gens

    Super Nintendo - SNES9x

    Nintendo 64 - Project 64 v1.6 (Hacks) and 2.3

Game Boy, Color and Advance - Visual Boy Advance

Nintendo DS - Desmume (just collecting roms right now, cant play them worth a damn on this old clunker)

would love to get into more consoles but this PC cant handle Disc Based games at 30 FPS.

I'm a pokemon fan but like playing it on mobile so I bought DraStic. I highly recommend it not sure if it's available for apple users though.

Yeah, i find it hard to understand as well. My PC couldn't run half of the PS2 games that great without frame skip (the only games i could play at 60FPS from what i remember were KOF98UM and MBAA), but somehow it runs PSP games perfectly on PPSSPP. Oh, well, that's awesome though.

From what I looked up, They apparently have most of the source code for the PSP's internal system. Which would help a lot.

I've lost enough control of my life that even though I used to use emulators a lot more (and still do for other consoles, Xenia, PCSX2, Dolphin, and RPCS3 straight-up look way better than actual hardware), I'm actually running roms on flash carts on real hardware most of the time.

    SD2SNES Pro - SNES (duh)
    Everdrive X7 - Genesis
    Everdrive N8 Pro - NES

There's just something about playing games on original hardware even if you don't have the actual carts. Plus I still get to use romhacks and fan translations with them which is some of the most fun I've had since I bought one.

I forgot almost everything since i got a new computer, but i think i remember only few emulators i used on my previous computer...

    For PS2, PCSX2.
    For SNES, it was Snes9x.
For Neo Geo games, (mostly King of Fighters games, but before 2020, i played Last Blade, Samurai Shodown and Garou from what i remember) WinKawaks.
    For PSP, PPSSPP.

I forgot if i used more emulators than that.
But wow, i know that my previous PC was sort of good for games, emulated or not. The only problem is that my PC was and still is 32 bit so, it's not super duper awesome and there were few games i couldn't play because of low FPS, but i fixed that by playing games that work and had high FPS on my PC.

News Re: What types of Roms do you play?

A list of emulators I use and highly reccomend.

    • DOS-BOX (for DOS of course)
    • scummVM (For certainPoint n Click adventure games, even a few RPGs.)
    • WinUAE (Amiga)
    • SNES9X (SNES) or BSNES HD ([For certain Mode 7 games)
    • Fusion (Genesis, Sega Master System, 32X, Game Gear, and SEGA CD)
    • BGB (Gameboy and GBC)
    • Vice (C64)
    • mGBA (GBA)
    • DeSmuME (DS)
    • ePSXe (PS1)
    • PCSX2 (For PS2)
    • PPSSPP (Sony PSP)
    • Virtural Jaguar (What else would you use for Atari Jaguar emulation?)
    • Dolphin (Gamecube and Wii)
    • Nestopia (For the NES)
    • Magic Engine (TG16) and TurboEngine for TG16-CD
    • Oswan (For Wonderswan)
    • NeoPop (Neo Geo Pocket)
    • Kawaks (For CPS 1, CPS2, and NEO GEO)
    • MAME (For arcade if the home-ports are not ideal.)
    • BlueMSX (MSX n MSX2)
    • SFF (Sega Saturn)
    • Demul (SEGA Dreamcast)
    • Cemu (Wii-U)
    • Fuse (ZX Spectrum)

I also use RetroArch but mostly on my GPD XD+ (But I leave PSP n PS1 to PPSSPP and ePSXe for Android)

Here's hoping this discussion don't invite the wraith of Nintendon't.

I use ROMs from database projects (NO-INTRO, ReDump, TOSEC) where the games have been dumped in their purest, untampered form to ensure that the game I want does not contain intros, cracks, or various problems from overdumping or improper dumping.

For emulators I tend switch between two for each platform depending on compatibility/accuracy.

Ico Floppy Re: What types of Roms do you play?

    NEStopia - NES
    Snes9x - SNES
    Project64 - Nintendo 64
    DeSmuME - Nintendo DS
    VBA - GBA
    NeoRagex - Neo-Geo
    PSX - PlayStation

Or they were the ones I used to play, currently I don't use most of them, but I find it difficult to eliminate them...

Lately, I've seriously been vibing playing PSP titles using the PPSSPP emulator. You can mess with the texture settings, and the resolution settings. I played Dissidia012: Duodecim on 5x texture scaling and 3x resolution and it was almost like it was a PS3 title. (obviously you want a good video card/PC here).
