I recall taking an after-school typing class many years ago and I just wasn't able use a keyboard with both hands effectively. Because of this, I always play games with a controller.
I forget why, but at some point, I actually moved to a strategy like this many years ago. When I play FPS games, I use the left side of a controller in my left hand. Right hand for mouse and some rare keyboard usage. I did try using controller only, but most analog sticks aren't good enough for aiming, and those fake mouse controllers are even worse. Maybe they've improved since I started doing this. It's been over 10 years, lol. Games that don't require a mouse, I'm going full controller if at all possible. Playing old shockwave games with a controller is an amazing experience.

The super old version of this was that there used to be programmable controllers that would hijack the keyboard connection (pre-USB). The controller was like a PS1 controller, but with 6 face buttons, and it could be plugged in between an AT or PS2 keyboard plug and socket. We didn't have Joy2Key in the DOS gaming days.
