    Default Re: Unpopular Opinions

Someone will be saying this is popular, but i have seen a lot of comments on Youtube on 'old' (not so old, but they are CONSIDERED old if that makes sense, i am talking about 2012-ish and earlier songs) songs saying "no depression" (stating that depression didn't exist in some time when some song was released) and "no stress", but as much as good life was in the old days, i completely disagree. I do understand the definition of nostalgia, but just because you felt good back then doesn't mean everyone did. I have had good times in my life, but i know that not everyone felt good when i did. Anyways, off to the opinion:

Depression has always existed. Was it less common in the older days, say, 90's or 2000's? Maybe. Was it non existent back then? Absolutely not. Depression didn't just rest for a bit, and come again. It has always existed, the word "depression" and similar was used in, like, 14th century and after it. I mean, even in 1929 to 1939, there was a crisis called The Great Depression. Was 2010 a good year? That's subjective, it was good for some people, it was bad for some people. Were people depressed in 2010? Yes. Maybe less people, but it doesn't mean no one was. I just find these "no depression" comments on Youtube a bit stupid, but maybe i don't get the point, maybe they're saying that they weren't depressed back then, but i feel like they are talking about the world itself, i don't know.

    And also...
People were always offended about something. We just didn't use the words snowflake, Gen Z and Millennial, but people were always offended, in the past and now. In the 50's and 60's, gay people were hated and not allowed to have rights. Most (not all, MOST) people would go from happy to unhappy if someone was black or gay. (i apologize for a controversial post) Some people regardless of their s3xual orientation and race survived the 50's and 60's, but it wasn't a happy time for everyone, despite its pros.
And i mean, people were cancelling other people and stuff before 2019-present, we just didn't call it "cancel culture", didn't search much on it, but that's what i heard. In 2008 to 2014, people would go crazy (in an angry violent way, not in a fangirl way) if Justin Bieber was mentioned, and they would make million memes attacking him if his face just showed up somewhere.

A lot of people misunderstand the word depression, and don't understand how it works so, they say wrong things, but as long as we can educate someone, i see no problem.

Power and money don't corrupt, they just reveal who the person really is.
