How did get into fighting games? And what was your first fighting game?

My dad was a huge MK fan and got me into it when i was around 6 on my birthday he bought me this controller you plug into your tv it had a couple MK games installed on it (whatever happened to those thing they were awesome) and i used to sit there and play with him all the time he would show me some moves and how to do them it was great fun i still remember the day i beat Shao Khan for the first time toom me AGES i ran out and told my dad was an awesome moment

Mom and dad just bought an SNES and thought a game called Mortal Kombat was family friendly. Needless to say I thoroughly enjoyed it they didn't lol

My dad brought home Killer Instinct one day. That was a game I very much enjoyed. Ironically, Mortal Kombat was a game I also liked, but for some reason I liked KI more.

Lot of memories or Mariokart and Super Smash Bros Brawl on my cousin’s Wii getting me into the competitive spirit of gaming. Pokkén Tournament rly appealed to me but I never got it ;w;

I recall really getting into fighting games playing Virtua Fighter 5 with my dad at home.

My first fighting game was Super Smash Bros. Brawl on the Wii when I was 6 or 7, and for some reason, I was strictly a Kirby main, refusing to play any other character that wasn't him. (with exceptions)

However, the first fighting game that I took seriously was Blazblue Cross Tag Battle! I had primarily bought the game because of the RWBY characters in it, but as I played with the other characters, I began to become a fan of the other series involved in Cross Tag Battle, Primarily Persona and Blazblue itself.

After becoming a fan of these two series, I started to adore the genres the represented, the effort put into the game's development, and the the underlying themes Video Games represent

From this point onwards, I started to appreciate games more than I did in the past, but fighting games will always hold a special place in my heart, as I know I can always come back to them, and the journey to improve your skill in a game never truly ends.

1996 I was 4 and was given Super Street Fighter 2 and Art Of Fighting for the SNES. Never could figure out how I would randomly shoot a fireball (Hadoken) back in the button mashing days. Been playing ever since.

I don't get all these "real-life like" games anymore. A game that doesn't require you to fill the gaps with imagination & serves everything finished is ... basically a "real-life simulation" with special powers & a background story.

My very first fighting game was Street Fighter 2 for the SNES. It was also the game that got me into the genre. I vividly remember my dad loading it up and teaching me how to play.

Honestly, although Mortal Kombat was my first ever video game, I really only got into fighters after watching Super Best Friends Play. Their Fighterpedia, Fisticuffs, and Scrublords videos got me into the genre

The first game that got me into fighting games was mortal combat 2. The first time I played it was a local arcade I spent all my pocket money try to win but I was still young so it didn't work out. Ever since then I've been playing games like the King of Fighters but my favorites (due to the music and characters) were 98 & 2001.

On the other hand, talking about more general games and between normal quotes, it would be the Street Fighter II and the first 3D fighting game I played would be Bloody Roar 2
