How did get into fighting games? And what was your first fighting game?

Yie Ar Kung Fu, back in the 80's.....
How amazing it was. One-on-one fighting with opponents that actually had their own unique styles and moves! Street Fighter 1 ended up taking this concept further, but this was a revolutionary idea back in those days.

I can't remember. My main was an NES for a long time, so I know I played TMNT:TF a lot. What a great game that is. It's so good, there's a mugen fullgame spinoff. I played a lot of Samurai Shodown and eventually SSF2 (not Turbo) when I got a Sega Genesis. Mortal Kombat also had a place in my heart in my younger days. UMK3 on Genesis was a really good game, and a lot of fun. MK2 (and 1) wasn't too shabby either, but stupid difficult. Needless to say, I was mega excited when that ROM hack finally came out.

First game was Tekken 3. Straight up thought it was the best fighting game ever. Still do to be honest.

I Don't really remember, But KOF 2002 (The King of Fighters 2002) was one of the first fighting games i played when i was a kid at the arcades.
I Played some games of the KOF Series with one of my aunts (Who died now), Leona Heidern was her favorite character.

Another game i had when i was a kid was named Tekken 5, My Dad got me into this game genre, Formely it was like button mashing, Now i am a pro on fighting games (And now i play a few doujin titles).

The first fighting game was International Karate for the Commodore 64, later on Street Fighter 2 / Mortal Kombat on Amiga 500.

Street Fighter will always have a special place for me.

Smash Bros. was one of the ones to grab me too. Specifically Brawl.

Well, I got interested in JoJo's and eventually I tried out HFTF and I loved it. My interests in the fighting game genre took off from there.

The first fighting game I remember myself playing was Gundam Wing Endless Duel for Snes with my brothers when I was very young (4-5 years), but by that time I clearly didn't know what I was doing (I was not even pressing all the buttons trying to make a combination, I just spammed one single punch button). Funny enough, the firt time I ever made a fighting game combination was playing the first Megaman X when you reach the Hadouken secret. My contact with the most famous fighting games (such as MK, KOF, SF) was just by watching my brothers playing it alone. The first games I actually played with some competence was the Dragon Ball games of PS2, such as Infinity World and Budokai Tenkaichi 3, which didn't have too complicated attacks to make. It was only in my teen age that I could play the Kof series with conscience of what I was doing.

I think my first fighting game was Soul Calibur IV. I had so much fun with it and it got me hooked on the genre! That's why I shall eternally thank the series for getting me into the genre.

The first fighting game I ever played would be Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the wii, but my first traditional 2d fighter was Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition

I remember during my childhood playing lots of fighting games such as SF and MK, I didn't really play them anymore until MK9 came out, which really piqued my interest
