My First fighting game I ever played was SSF2, the best fighting game out there.
My First fighting game I ever played was SSF2, the best fighting game out there.
My first fighting game was Smash Bros 3ds.
The first fighting game I have ever played was assassin's creed on a psp.
I think the first game that I played was Wii Sports
The first game I owned was pokemon yellow, but the first game I played is probably tetris
Smash bros Brawl.
Here's a list of my first fighting games/kakuge i have played in my childhood since 2007~2009 (via my old PS2, Windows XP computer (R.I.P) & of course, the Arcades):
Tekken 5 (PS2) (NOTE: one of my first fighting games i have played as a kid on the PS2)
Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 (SNES)
The King of Fighters 2001/2002/2003/XI (Arcades/Neo-Geo)
Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance/Armageddon (PS2)
Some fighting flash games
Some MUGEN games from WinMugen era.
Playing these games back then in the 2000s was very good when i was a kid, but i wasn't very good at these due to button mashing issues, but now i'm good at these.
Fun fact: in the 2000s as a kid i was used to play fighting games on Easy dificulty due to button mashing issues, but since i learned the special commands from SSFIV (XBOX 360) in 2012 (8~9 years old), now i choose Normal difficulty (way better than Easy difficulty).

I think the very first fighting game I remember playing was the Super Nintendo version of Mortal Kombat. As in the one with censored fatalities and no blood. For those not familiar, let me explain, The home console ports of the original Mortal Kombat suffered from various changes due to censorship and other regulations. The SNES version, handled by Acclaim and Sculptured Software, had blood removed because of Nintendo's strict guidelines at the time over what can and cannot be shown in games on their consoles. On the other hand, the Sega Genesis version had blood and fatalities, but they could only be accessed by entering in a cheat code (ABACABB, to be precise). Because of this reason alone, the Genesis version sold more copies than the SNES version.
Super Smash Bros Brawl, great game especially with friends
Sonic 1 for master system
MK in a super nintendo
Tekken 3 would be my first fighting game.
Mortal Kombat 3
I think Smash Bros Melee was my first. I played it when I was around 4 or 5 years old, so I don't remember much about the experience. I also was exposed to KOF, but never played until last year. I remember I was looking at the demo that was playing and Rugal used one of his supers to drag the other character across the screen. It was so awesome that the memory was ingrained in my head since that day and I just barely made the connection that the game was KOF last year as I was watching a showcase of all the characters super moves.
My first was a Street Fighter game but i don t remember which one.
But the games that got me really into fighting games was the Tekken series
Street Fighter II
MK 9
