Donkey Kong Country 3. It's Not All That Scary, But The Atmosphere Just Makes It... Unsettling...
The creepiest ones for me as a kid that I can remember are:
Glover n64: It’s how the way the game over music plays and the way the text ‘fall’ on to each other on the center of the screen. Another version of the song plays when you run out of time on time attack. Does not help when the screen freezes as the game over/time up animation plays.
DKC GBC: Oh how fun it is when the GBC sound bytes can sound scary to a kid. Losing a life is this game’s jump scare, because it’s so sudden, so instant when you run into an enemy. The game over screen is... questionable, what’s with Diddy’s eye? What’s with Donkey Kong’s chest!?
As a kid, I was afraid of still images, thinking something’s gonna pop up from the bottom of the screen or something. And yes, music can scare children, depending on how it is played.
Sillent Hill 2, combined with the creepy overall theme, it was dreadful and bloody :(
I really don't like the game over in Sonic CD when I forgot to pause when I fell asleep and I heard sonic say goodbye, when it suddenly woke me up and it scared the soul out of me to hear laughter in the background... that was when I was about 8.
I've seen a lot of scary bootleg game overs
The classic Felix the Cat bootleg game.
Crash Bandicoot 2 & 3's Game Over screens creeped me out as a kid.
It was simply Cortex(2) or Uka-Uka(3) staring at the screen and rubbing in their victory by telling the player "Game Over".
There was no music to accompany the screen and no other sound other than Cortex and Uka-Uka, nothing, all while they just sit there, glaring at the player as the option to continue or quit was on screen.
And if the player chose to return to the Title Screen, they would laugh, as they have finally won against Crash, once and for all.
I'd have to say the music they have when you die in the most recent
"Resident Evil" games is EXTREMELY creepy.
Conker Bad Fur Day and I remember there was a ninja gaiden game with a really awful game over when I saw it as a kid it made me bad for two days.
As far as a creepy "Game Over" I've experienced, if you've ever played "Ratatouille" on
the Wii, the death animations for Remy are terrifying. They're these cutscenes where
they show him drowning or falling to his death or losing all his health and collapsing
onto the floor and the music they play during it is SUPER creepy. I played that game,
and those death animations scared the CRAP out of me! You know what the scariest
part is? The background behind him is always dark and you can't see anything else
except his little body falling into the darkness or collapsing dead onto the floor or
drowning in water.
Can someone please post a video of all these death animations here for me so
everyone will know what I am talking about? Thank you.

There's some music in video games that's scary even to teenage and adult gamers too LOL.....
Resident Evil 2's really haunted me when i was little![]()
Probably the Donkey Kong Country 2 game over. Just the image of Diddy and Dixie in jail with the music and red screen at the end is pretty unsettling
The one in the first Donkey Kong Country with Donkey and Diddy covered in bandages
and Diddy having a black eye and the background being pitch black is just as creepy.
A lot of gamers reacted negatively to that image when they first saw it, too. It's still
seen as one of the most creepy "Game Over" screens ever. Also the music creeps
people out for that one, too.
Not sure if it counts as a traditional Game Over, but running out of time in Majora's Mask always freaked me out as a kid. I would always make sure I never saw that cutscene of the moon crashing down and wiping out Termina.
