On the phrase you mentioned, I know it stinks for anyone who hits that point, regardless if that status is self-inflicted or not. People would do well to avoid being the "whipping horse", it leads to much frustration.

Exactly, and it's also sad how when someone wants to be serious, they and what they have to say get treated just as a joke. There are always limits. I like jokes at the right time, but they can be hurtful at the wrong time. Similar to what you said, there's a sifference between a joke and being an âsshole who makes others feel uneasy and unhappy.
