Street Fighter: Simple but offers interesting world building experience.
Tekken: Great gameplay but very shallow lore.
KOF: Unique 3 on 3 gameplay and equally unique lore.
MK: Cool gameplay but lore has lots of retcons.
etc.

I go for gameplay mostly especially when I play fighting game seriously

gameplay is almost everything. If the ending of a game sucks, that's the only thing people are going to remember.

It depends, honestly. Sometimes I like to really get enveloped in a game's plot or lore, sometimes I just feel like playing a damn good video game. I'm probably more inclined towards gameplay slightly, but I like both. I don't care too much if one is lacking, as long as the other makes up for it.

While it is indeed important to have good world building, if the game isn't fun to play,
then It's likely that I'm not going to remember the story the game is trying to tell or care about the world the game wants me to be immersed in.

Gameplay, good lore, while I prefer to have it, falls apart when the gameplay isn't good enough to support it. A good example of this is Mortal Kombat Mythologies Sub-Zero, I love the lore it added to Mortal Kombat and Sub-Zero is one of my favorite MK characters, but I am not willing to fight with it's horrendous controls and awful level design to experience it.
