Right now i have it set to one song: Guilty Gear 2 Overture - Chase
Mostly any music that best fits for the stages I have for Mugen.
Oh yeah, music from Syphon Filter 1,2 and 3 are also very good for mugen. Mostly the "Danger" tracks. that's where the action comes from.
Here's a sample:

I add Bastille and Echosmith music for some Stages.
i try and match the stage theme with the music so its all random it all depends on the stages theme
Mixed. I got some stages having their source/default tracks, while for some, suitable alternatives.
i use mostly dbz and jojo stages
but sometimes the song i use doesnt fit
like dbz songs:trunks theme on dying namek
a megaman mega wide stage: Running in the 90s
lol
Depends on the stage for me , mainly videogame osts and a few rap songs.
Random. It usually find music that matches the stage or something.
youtube is always useful :)
If we're talking about screenpack music too, I choose Earthbound/Mother 3 music.
If we're just talking about stages, I usually let them be unless I personally don't like the music. That's when I choose music myself. It's usually the original song from the source material, not a remix.
It's a wide variety for me, especially with stages. I choose whatever I feel fits best or just VGM tracks I like. Same with my menus: I use music I feel fits wonderfully, with "Homebound" by Feint as my select screen music and "Results" from Persona 4 as my victory screen music.
For me it totally depends on the stage used, could be video game music if it was a stage heavily related to a game, or it could be some rock or metal instrumentals
I try to go for music that goes with their respective stages. Like Street Fighter Alpha 2 Ken's stage will have this track:

Other times I like to grab non-video game stages and mix things up. For example, I take Forest Path (https://mugenarchive.com/forums/down...est-path-xzest) and have this play in the background.

I have all type kind of music in my mugen, but specially music of fighting games of super heroes
Hello.
Most of the musics used in my MUGEN are from other games, not necessarely fighting ones. All musics are bound to stages or characters.
Rarely, I keep the BGM that comes with a stage - I analyse the (silenced) stage for a few minutes, then, imagine a genre of melody that fits it.
If the music provided with the stage matchs, I keep it. Otherwise, I head to a folder with musics that I ripped and then, pick one.
One can see that, adding a (new) stage, for me, is very troublesome.
I used to use arranged BGMs as some of them sound much better.
Currently I am too lazy to insert a BGM to a stage.
Whatever songs that comes with the stages, whenever I want to, I’ll find loop points in the song in audacity. Although if the song is too loud or too quiet, I’ll adjust the volume of the file (or replace if it’s amped too high).
any music really, if it comes with a stage. but in some stages that don't have music, I sometimes think to see what fitting music I have like the bar stage using the flash game's swap job music and nightmare's bar that one wwe song called "just look at me"
I don't really put music inside of my MUGEN...
I just play long EDM mixes while I play MUGEN and quit when the mix is over.
none. im too lazy to add music to over 250+ stages
I haven't really put custom music in my stages because they already have music in it, but my menu music and character select is from Mortal Kombat games.
Menu is Wu Shi Academy from MK Shaolin Monks (loved that game back then), and character select is character select from MK Armageddon.
I have mostly songs from various fighting games, I tried to give as many characters their proper theme music as possible but for some I chose a song I had laying around on my computer if I felt it fit them or the stage I put them in.
To be honest, the music assortment in my mugen game is very random. However, all of it is from some game OST.
I try to use simila music to the stage I downloaded. If a remix is available, I'd use that.
a mixture of arranged soundtracks for many characters and and some originals
I just like to place musical tracks in my games that give upbeat and/or exciting feels for battle. Sometimes I'll input battle based music from some of my favorite RPG games, or other times I'll simply input music from video games I grew up playing.
I don't really listen to music while playing mugen.
