The roster is a big part of it for me, with Smash Bros being my favorite fighting game because of its characters. Good gameplay and graphics are secondary to that, in my opinion.
wow okay thanks!
In my opinion the characters are an important part more than anything because they must be different from each other in terms of their playing or even lore, is what gives the essence to me
Above all else, and as with any other game, simple "fun" of it must be there. I ain't gon' be playin' some Mugen if it ain't fun! I know that sounds vague but to be more specific:
- don't have really unbalanced characters
- have characters something appealing about them, whether it be there behaviors, appearance, or personality
- generally diverse and fairly large roster
and probably some others, but that is what I believe is to be the most important part of a fighting game.
Looks pretty nice so far! :clapping:
Looks very clean :pleasantry:
well written chars, nice stages and awesome tunes...what a surprise^^ capcom did best :p
For me it'd certainly have to be accessibility.Always found that a fighting game that anyone can pick up and play, like Smash for instance, to be very enjoyable. Characters also play a big part too, hence why mugen is awesome.
being a smash brothers game
ok for real i think that, like any game, it should be accessible/easy to pick up and be able to be played casually
but mostly being smash really
I think interesting characters and unique supers and playstyles
In my opinion few aspects go for great fighting game:
1. Interesting roster of characters.
2. Movement freedom and dexterity aspect - I just love when you can do long combos.
3. Storyline for each character - I know it's kinda nitpicking when it comes for the fighting genre, but plot can give much depth to a character - even if it's just plain text.
4. More than one gamemode (something more than Arcade and VS mode).
5. Character creation - just relate to Soul Calibur series.
You guys should honestly try my game when I release it
Here are my requirements for a good fighting game:
1) Sizable Roster with Lots of Variety
2) Balanced gameplay mechanics
3) Variety in gamemodes
4) Interesting setting/backstory
5) Good multiplayer/online system
6) Customization (ie sprite color swap or character creation)
7) Awesome Story Mode
I say what makes a fighting game great is sheer variety of character and easy to grasp controls. That way you can keep coming back to play it and it always feels different or new.
Despite the plethora of similar answers:
* A decent roster of balanced characters with a solid move list.
* The ability to learn any character with relative ease.
* Memorable and enjoyable music and sound.
* Smooth, polished gameplay lacking bugs or lags.
* 2-Player/Online play.
* A Spectator Mode.
If i had anything to say i would say "Just don't make BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle, Street Fighter V or any Tekken game."
While I don't disagree, you need to just start inserting the following image into all of your posts:
