Games that scared you when you were younger
I personally recall Metroid Fusion as one of the scariest games I've played as a kid, from the SA-X chase scenes and a particular boss that gave me goosebumps just by looking at it. Got traumatized to the point where even to this day I'm reluctant to pick it up and play again. From a rated E game of all things!

When I was 2-3 years old I thought a game over in games would mean dying in real life so I was scared shitless of the second level in Crash Bandicoot.

Re: Games that scared you when you were younger
This is gonna sound random, but Phantasy Star Online gave me a fair amount of scares when i was 10. Like Hidebear appearing outta nowhere and the background change in the first part of the fight against Dark Falz.

In Metroid Prime, after you start getting space pirates everywhere, I started getting a general feeling of uneasiness. It made it hard for younger me to keep playing the game.

Fallout New Vegas, as a 9 year old Fallout is terrifying, honestly still is unsettling to me sometimes.

Three Weeks in Paradise. Great game, but when I first saw it I was only little at the time and it looked kind of creepy.
Re: Games that scared you when you were younger
I was allowed to play one of the PlayStation 2 Mortal Kombat games as like a 5 year old and watching the fatality gave me a nightmare. I believe it was Kanos, though I couldn't entirely remember.
Re: Games that scared you when you were younger
While not the entire game, it was when i reached Lavender town in Pokemon Red that was scaring me. Going inside the tower and seeing the gravestones is what freaked me out
Re: Games that scared you when you were younger
Any level with the ghosts in Sonic Adventure 2, especially aquatic mine. Literally any time a master emerald shard appeared in what I call the "Ghost Chamber" I would nope so hard that I'd reset the stage just to get new emerald locations.

Re: Games that scared you when you were younger
One of my favorite games I played long ago when I was a kid, was Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, for the GameCube. The final Area and Chapter is in the Palace of Shadows which was locked by the giant ancient door in the Underground of Rougeport, and after finally getting all the seven Crystal Stars and going back on the Pedestal, it opens the Thousand Year Door while cracks start forming near the door in a creepy way, and then when it first opens, behind the door is a giant dark portal that slowly fades away, then after the cutscene, when your in the Palace of Shadows, it just looks creepy. All the other Chapters were happy go lucky or at minimum, just not too creepy, but when you get to the final area in the game, it all changes. But the main part I got scared about, was the Shadow Queen, the final boss of the game and the rumored demon protector of the Palace that is mentioned at some times in the game, and at the bottom of the Palace, Sir Grodus re-awakens the Shadow Queen from her slumber which lasted alot of years, and the Shadow Queen sees his offering for Peach as a vessel, and soon after, possesses Peach, and then kills Sir Grodus when he forces her by command to deal with Mario and Co, and then starts the first Phase of the Shadow Queen. Especially the way she comes out of the crypt, and how creepy she looks!
I also got scared of the Bowser silhouette when you die in Super Mario 64, and I even had a really scary moment or nightmare of it, where I woke up in the night and went to the TV I play the game on, and the face/silhouette was just.... there...
Re: Games that scared you when you were younger
And looking at creepypasta!!
Re: Games that scared you when you were younger
Resident Evil 2 by far was one of the games that got to me as a child. And...on a lesser note, but still creeped me out, the King Boom Boo stages from Sonic Adventure 2 was just...not cool.

The Bowser silhouette was definitely something that would get to me as well. The laugh...countless hours of dying on levels as a child...trauma mate

I remember Minecraft used to scare the living sh*t out of me because of those Endermen. They still make me tense.
