I like both of them, but I stay with Mario because he has marked part of my childhood. Unfortunately I can not say the same of Zelda because I only went to play the games of the LOZ in the final phase of my adolescence.
Super Mario Bros. 2 + Super Mario World, Zelda - A Link to the Past + Ocarina of Time. That's it.
Mario because it has my boy, Waluigi.
Well, in MY personal opinion, that kind of depends on the game from those two. They're both amazing games. :smile:

Story wise? Both are about similar, neither grab me much even if LoZ has more story overtone. As a char, i gotta say Link, even if the Link you like aint the Link you love cause the Lank changes depending on the game....
Supporting cast, Mario wins it, love me some Peach Boo and Daisy.
If i had to answer between them, I'd pick Zelda because useless distaff counterparts, player-two counterparts, and one-off characters aren't hogging up space in the cast, and Zelda II has a gameplay style i'd like to see more often, with both 2D Platforming and a birds-eye map intertwining to make a form of open-worldliness.
I prefer the Zelda series, because the games are more fun to watch other people play.
LOZ is my pick as I grew up playing Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword on Wii
