WARNING! freett is closing down on March 31

freett, a popular provider of free web space among Japanese MUGEN authors, will stop its service very soon.

Like for infoseek & geocities in their time, you can expect a lot of creations to go offline as a result. Some authors may move to another hosting service but others won't due to lack of time or interest.

We encourage our users to quickly collect these creations while they still can and archive them here.

I understand the situation with Freett shutting down, Best bet is to get Ahuron, JAMUGEN, and Yusuke's stages site in there as well.
This place has been wonderful for stages, esp with some stages having parallax. Be a good tryout incase you want something new ;)

Searching the entire database per author name is very useful in this case, just make sure "category" is blanked in the search form or it will only search a single category. Hope it helps. :amuse:

There's two stages I'm not sure who the author is.
Also, I haven't decided if that Yuki stage should be at Last Blade section. The char is from Last Blade but, the stage is not, it's just a background with Yuki.

Since we had this problem you may have to double check, the name of the char, if it was already uploded before the crash, and the name of THE FILE, considering it could have been uploaded after the crash and is pending update.

And there's a tricky thing. Many chars have readme in japanese, so after I finish that site, I'll HAVE TO update the files BEFORE 31TH MARCH, or else many of them will be without author names. Besides, it's easier and faster to do with the sites still on.

I'm sure there are dozens of other sites on freett, but at least what we know about was taken care of. I'll backup the pages content, might be useful to improve the files documentation eventually.

Note that https://web.archive.org/web/20120210...uss/index.html has a lot of links to AIs in the bottom. It appears that most are archived, but being unsure of how up to date they are, I tried first checking the unarchived link (i. e. copy+pasting the link and removing the "archive.org" part) before downloading the archived one. It seems like most of the links point to files on freett that are still there, but there were about 4-6 that are no longer up but are archived and a further 4-6 that have been lost (neither archived nor currently up).

If someone else would like to try downloading everything from there too for safety, that might also be good.

Note: I was able to find three files that were not linked by making educated guesses on the file names. They turned out to be "marisa.rar" "remilia.rar" and "ryougi.rar". "buccellati.rar" unfortunately seemed to give no results. Of course, there is no reason to expect that non-linked files that are not saved will ever be preserved once freett closes.

In any rate I am happy knowing that these links shall forever be saved and well protected here. We are now ready to bow our heads to Freett and hope any creators can return later on from the aftermath :)
