Re: Preferred Combo Length in Fighting Games?
Very chaotic high-damaging combos (Ningyou Tsukai 2 for Win/Memorial Selection - Mou Ichido Kimi ni Aitai & Advanced V.G. 2)
Very chaotic combos until damage decreases to little quantity (Various fighting games with damage scaling system such as Guilty Gear, SkullGirls & etc..)
NOTE: Ningyou Tsukai 2 (for Win/Memorial Selection re-release) & SkullGirls are very fast-paced on combos.

Re: Preferred Combo Length in Fighting Games?
I vote 30-80 hits, as I actually prefer around 50 hits. 30 hits with normal string combos and 20+ from one or two supers. Ideally 30-50 hits can be performed by adept/expert players, while 5-15 hits can be achievable from novice/intermediate players.

Re: Preferred Combo Length in Fighting Games?
Depends on how the character is supposed to play, as well as the circumstances given for the combo. Leave 50+ hit combos to super moves and/or cancels into super moves.

Re: Preferred Combo Length in Fighting Games?
Next to none. It's really fun to have moves that do tons of hits on their own, but if I want dial-a-combos, I'll play UMK3. It's boring as hell to play a game where everything derails into each player trying to get the setup for their one big combo that does the most damage. It makes everything useless.

Re: Preferred Combo Length in Fighting Games?
I prefer 3 to 10 hit like in sf3
-
Re: Preferred Combo Length in Fighting Games?
I can't believe Rare Akuma does 999 hits..
But i prefer between 10 to 34..
-
Re: Preferred Combo Length in Fighting Games?
I say 10 combos so it doesn't cheap or boring.

Re: Preferred Combo Length in Fighting Games?
Medium combos 10 30 is fine for more experts players to make Long combo 30 80
-
Re: Preferred Combo Length in Fighting Games?
I prefer it when combo hitstun decay by the amount of time that passed in a combo and the moves that you use can affect it too
-
Re: Preferred Combo Length in Fighting Games?
I think it depends on how hard they hit. Is it rapid weak strikes or a couple heavy strikes? Either way, I like it to do enough damage to help turn the tide without OHKO potential.
-
Re: Preferred Combo Length in Fighting Games?
Medium Combos for me. They are just the right length to feel rewarding yet not tiring.
-
Re: Preferred Combo Length in Fighting Games?
10-30 hits. A good limit to put a fighter half-way or a quarter away from being knocked out.
-
Re: Preferred Combo Length in Fighting Games?
I would personally say that combos should have a ton of hits, but based on the dexterity of the person executing the combo - however, I'd suggest that the moves used to combo should be mostly chip damage, and not deal sizable chunks of damage. Like, I love the idea of a 200 hit combo (probably because I'm a weeb) but it would have to be balanced and fair.

Re: Preferred Combo Length in Fighting Games?
I'd like to not be combo'd for a solid 30 seconds off of one mistake
-
Re: Preferred Combo Length in Fighting Games?
I think, it depends on favorite game style. I think for Mugen the best is short combos or short medium combos(10-20 attacks).
-
Re: Preferred Combo Length in Fighting Games?
Depends on the game and character, I can only do short because I’m not great at comboing. But I’d prefer to not get long combo’d for the slightest mistake.

Re: Preferred Combo Length in Fighting Games?
Less than 30 I feel is good

Re: Preferred Combo Length in Fighting Games?
Depends on if the game and if the combo is a true combo or a custom combo. A zero to death is almost never fun but a 15 hit combo like tekken that takes weeks to practice is usually about half health but when you get hit in competitive tekken its basically a TOD. Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja storm 4 can have really long combos because you have so much health but its definitely not fun to get hit with a 57 hit combo in street fighter or kof

Re: Preferred Combo Length in Fighting Games?
999 hit combo is the limit but i would say 40-90 hit combos
-
Short & sweet is my cup of tea, although I don't mind seeing combos go toward the 10-20 range.
Long combo strings usually don't interest me because because they typically involve wasting time wailing on the other person with piddly attacks.
This probably stems from my biased fondness for heavy-hitters(even if they do usually suck).

Re: Preferred Combo Length in Fighting Games?
chances to deal around half hp dmg per combo to an enemy should exist in my opinion, but the longer the combo, the harder it has to be to execute it, but never 1 hit kill o 1 combo kill, like the "maximum damage" on mkp
-
Re: Preferred Combo Length in Fighting Games?
mine is the last option definitely  but I could at most do the shorts one often :wavetowel:
-
Re: Preferred Combo Length in Fighting Games?
medium because personally getting locked in a super long combo isn't very fun but also staying in neutral for most the game isn't either.
-
Re: Preferred Combo Length in Fighting Games?
i believe in the combo style of games like Killer Instinct, where your combos can be as few as 3 hits, but you can finish them with a 30-hit combo as their health is in the red.

Re: Preferred Combo Length in Fighting Games?
I'm not even gonna bother acting like I'm any good at MUGEN, but I picked 3-10 hits cause I'm bad and I haven't really figured it out yet. BUT realistically speaking, combos are only really gonna be as long as you make them (i.e. if you're super skilled then I'm sure you can definitely pull off 30, 40, 50 and maybe even 100 hit combos)
